Giana at 3 Months!

Giana at 3 Months!

Before we begin the Velez family would like to congratulate our dear friends Nancy and Doogie on the birth of their baby boy Ian Nathaniel Hernandez. Baby Ian was born yesterday 3/19/2006 weighing in at 6lbs and 9oz. May their home be blessed with the warmth of God's grace and the miracle of life found in Ian.

Can you beleive it!!! Giana is 3 months and drooling all over the place. Her doctor said that she's beginning to teethe, so her gumbs have been itching and she's been spitting all over herself... and on Mommy and Daddy too. No biggie... that's the small stuff compared to the dirty diapers she's been leaveing behind. But... we love her anyway and more everyday.

Melissa and I are absolutely stunned at how well she is progressing. She's talking alot more, and beginning to mimic everything we do. If we throw her a kiss, she tries to throw one back. If we make goo-goo faces, she makes them back. It seems like everyday brings something new... and everyday we await to see what she'll do next. This ride is amazing!

So what have we learned in the third month........

We are learning that kids do grow up fast! This blog alone will show Giana grow in the span of one year and you'll all be able to see how we have grown as a family. Thank God for Blogs... but more importantly we thank you for taking this journey with us.

It seems like everytime we turn around there's something new to catch our attention. We've finally gotten into our parenting zone and we're becoming more comfortable with our daily routine. Just the other day I was at my mom's house and Grandma Sylvia was having a one-on-one conversation with Giana. As talkative as Giana is, she was communicating the best way she could. As I stood off in the distance watching their interaction, I simply stood there in total amazement. My mother who brought me into this world was now talking with our daughter. The two of them were pouring their love into one another and I couldn't help but become overwhelmed. At this point I finally saw what my mother saw all along. The love of a parent is undying. I might have said this before, but I wish everyone could experience parenthood and feel the magic that comes from parent to child and child to parent. It's like heaven on earth. Nothing else matters - not your job, your finances, your worries, your problems, your weight, or even your worst nightmare. The love of a child makes everything better.

As we grow as parents I can't help but see how God loves us the same. We are his children and as our Father, he has given his undying love for all of us. He shows this through parenthood. As we love our children, protect our children, and care for our children, God does the same for us. Only God shares his love in a level we may not be quite capable of understanding. But through it all... his blessings give us the love we need to carry our children to become the best people they can be.

'til next month!
